Week of October 12-17

Cougar Reading-  We will continue to practice writing sentences and identifying them as being telling sentences, questions, exclamations and commands. We will also add a little pizzazz to our sentences as we create a list of spooky nouns and adjectives to use in October journals and in our upcoming Haunted House story.

ELA/Social Studies- There will be no small group reading this week so that I can conduct end of the quarter benchmark tests. In whole group we will continue to study geography. We will create a map of our street and a map of Shawnee in class. We will also use the Kansas map, United States map , Seven Continents map and a world map as apply our knowledge of cardinal directions and create a flip book in class. We will also write our first narrative of the year about a haunted house that is for sale.

Math-In class we are continuing to work on place value as we read and write numbers to 1,000 in various ways. We are showing numbers using models, number-words, and expanded form.
