Cougar Reading: October is here and we will enhance our sentence writing abilities this week as we review the four types of sentences: questions, statements, commands and exclamations by writing some "bewitching" sentences in class. We will also go batty this week by reading, discussing and summarizing information about the only mammal that flies: BATS!!
Spelling: Students will study and practice with the ow/oa spelling pattern.
ELA/ Social Studies: This week we will begin a two week Geography unit. In class we will read aloud the books Route 66, The Scrambled States of America and The Scrambles States of America Talent Show. In class, we will learn that mapmakers are known as cartographers and compare maps from the past and present. We will also practice using a weather map in class this week.
Math- We will complete Topic 5: Place Value to 100 this week and take a math test on Thursday, October 9th. In class we are using a hundred chart as well as ten rods and one cubes to model different ways to count and classify given numbers.
