Curriculum Updates for April 14-18

Cougar Reading-  There will be much word play afoot this week as we learn about homophones and homonyms in class. Students will have a great time identifying the meaning of phrases and riddles such as a "hoarse horse" and  "Have you ever seen a tree bark?".

ELA-  We will continue our Ecology Unit this week by learning about animal habitats through the use of non-fiction articles. Students will practice reading and re-reading these articles to find the answers to comprehension questions. In class we will also define the words "consumer", "producer" "predator", "prey"  "food chain" and "food web".  We will create food chains and webs in class and participate in an interactive game on the playground of Food Chain Tag.

Math- Topic 16 begins this week with a review of telling time to the quarter hour and five minutes and then we will spend the rest of the topic creating and reading graphs.
