Content Objectives for April 21-25

Cougar Reading- This week we will expand upon our knowledge base of plants and animals by reading non-fiction articles about the adaptations of plants and animals within their habitats. We will analyze these passages to identify text features such as heading, sub-heading and captions and read to find the main idea and supporting details within each text.

ELA- In celebration of Earth Day we will learn about endangered animals, water conservation and recycling. In class we will discuss how we can be active participants in keeping our planet healthy. IWe will come up with strategies to conserve energy within our homes and write Earth Day poems.

Math- In class we will complete our topic on graphing and take a math test on Wednesday, April 23rd. Beginning on Thursday we will begin a topic on repeated addition and multiplication.  My class is BEYOND excited to begin learning their multiplication facts.

Science- Last week we concluded our third science chapter on plants, animals and habitats. As a culminating project we will work in cooperative groups to create habitat dioramas.  We will display the ocean, grassland, rainforest, woodland, dessert, and the tundra. Our learning objectives are to identify the living and non-living things in each environment, list two food chains, and research one specific animal from each habitat.
