Cougar Reading- As an extension to our theme on Elections in reading, we will hold a superhero election in class. We will read brief fictional biographies of Peter Parker and Bruce Wayne, identify their heroic attributes and character traits. We will then hold an election in class to determine who is the better Superhero! We will also review verbs this week.
Reading- In reading we will read biographies of famous black Americans such as Harriett Tubman, Ruby Bridges, Jesse Owens, GeorgeWashington Carver and Baraq Obama. We will create a scrapbook honoring these heroes and writing short summaries about their lives.
Spelling- We will apply the -age, -arge, and -adge pattern to given words this week.
Math- In math we will continue to practice adding and subtracting three digit numbers in class.
Social Studies- This week begins our unit on Pioneers. We will learn about how brave settlers traveled the Oregon Trail. We will also create our own wagon for the trip and participate in an activity where we simulate packing for the trail out west as we determine what would NEED to bring versus what we woud WANT to bring.
Writing- We will complete our short unit on poetry writing this week as create a Persona Poem and a Poem using Onomonatopeia.
