Concepts, Themes and Objectives for May 7-11

Reading- We have been learning about  Economics in our theme Earning and Saving. We've read two selections Round and Round The Money Goes as well as Seeds of Fortune.   Literary features such as metaphors, dialogue, and character traits have been discussed this week.  It's hard to believe that we are in our final week of reading groups. We will spend  this last week working on fluency skills, story retellings, literal and inferential story questions.

Cougar Reading- In class we've been working on story elements as we learn terminology such as exposition, conflict, climax and resolution. We will continue to use this terminology this week by reading interesting literature and participating in various vocabulary activities.

Math- This week we will learn to tell time to the minute and participate in activities in which we create, compare and contrast graphs.

Writing- A review of adjectives will take place this week and we will use these descriptive words to write about the beautiful, dynamic and amazing women in our lives.......our MOMS!!

Social Studies-  We will end the school year with a unit on Economics. So far we have defined and learned about "needs" and "wants" as well as "goods" and "services". This week we will compare and contrast "consumers" and "producers" and learn about "supply" and "demand" and participate in an activity where we get to "barter" and "trade" for fun erasers.
